Y Combinator is an American startup accelerator and venture capital firm founded in 2005 by Paul Graham, Jessica Livingston, Trevor Blackwell, and Robert Tappan Morris. The organization runs cohort-based accelerator programs that provide seed funding, mentorship, and network access to early-stage technology startups. Since its founding, Y Combinator has helped fund and launch thousands of companies, and its alumni include notable technology firms such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, Coinbase, DoorDash, Reddit, Instacart, Twitch, Cruise, and Scale AI. In January 2022 YC codified a widely used standard deal that provides $125,000 for 7% equity (post-money SAFE) plus an additional $375,000 on an uncapped SAFE with MFN terms as part of its batch program.
